Kravis Center Transportation
In September of 1992, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts opened its doors in West Palm Beach, Florida. Operated by a private, not-for-profit corporation, the Kravis Center West Palm Beach is a thriving example of an economic catalyst — it opened fully funded due to the outstanding community support it received from local businesses and performing arts patrons. With a growing reputation, both locally and nationally, the Kravis Center has become one of the premiere performing arts centers in the Southeast.
The Kravis Center West Palm Beach hosts over 500 shows and welcomes nearly 500,000 visitors each season. It houses four venues: the Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. Concert Hall, the Marshall E Rinker, Sr. Playhouse, the Michael and Andrew Gosman Amphitheatre and the Helen K. Persson Hall. In addition, the Kravis Center is the West Palm Beach home for regional organizations such as the Miami City Ballet, the Palm Beach Pops and the Palm Beach Opera.
The Kravis Center is the former site of Connie Mack Field. This property was the spring training facility for the Philadelphia Athletics and the St Louis Browns. A longtime gathering place for entertainment in the Palm Beach area, this field showcased some of the greatest names in baseball – Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, Joe DeMaggio and Mickey Mantle. To honor that history, there is a commemorative plaque on the grounds that mark the home plate of Connie Mack Field.
