South Beach Wine & Food Festival (#SOBEWFF)
The South Beach Food & Wine Festival is one of America’s most prestigious gourmet events. Originally a one-day festival called the Florida Extravaganza; it was designed to raise funds for FIU’s School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and was held on the Biscayne Bay Campus from 1997-2001.
In 2002, Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida took over the reigns and brought the event to South Beach. It was renamed the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and extended to a 3-day event by 2004 that attracted over 20,000 attendees and garnered national attention. In 2007, the Food Network entered into a partnership with the South Beach Wine & Food Festival to become its title sponsor.
Today the event, which is held annually in February in Miami’s South Beach, is presented by The Food Network and hosted by Southern Wine & Spirits of Florida and Florida International University (FIU). It has raised over $18 million dollars for the school and has become a national, four-day event that attracts major wine and spirit producers and the biggest and brightest culinary personalities.
