Last year was a great one for the Florida Cruise Ports with the addition of so many new spectacular ships. However, 2017 might be even better. Thus far, 4 new ships have been added to the ports rotation, which are ms Koningsdam from Holland America, Regent Seven Seas Explorer, Carnival Vista and Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas.
Later on in the year, an additional 3 cruise ships will be added, and the biggest is the MSC Seaside. The 154,000-ton behemoth can hold up to 4,140 passengers. Onboard there is the MSC Yacht Club, which accommodates visitors with a solarium, pool, and private lounge. The other two cruise ships are Viking Sun from Viking Ocean Cruises and the Silver Muse from Silversea Cruises, which are at the luxury end of the spectrum.
Also in 2017 cruises to Cuba will have a greater number of options as more voyages to Havana will take place. In 2016 the first US-based company chartered a cruise to Cuba so with an increase this year it’s quickly becoming an accessible destination.
The Port Everglades has already been the busiest it’s ever been, breaking their cruise passenger record on February 26th by having over 50,000 passengers boarding in one day. This port typically only has 8 ships docked at one time, but they are already up to 10 per day to keep up with the demand. Some of the ships present on this record-breaking day include Carnival Conquest, Regal Princess, Allure of the Seas, Coral Princess, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, and the Celebrity Silhouette.
